Inderjeet “Jeet” Singh, CPA

Founder and Managing Tax Partner

SSK Tax Advisors, PLLC

Three weeks into his Amara Club membership, Jeet already feels at home. After thirteen years in public accounting, he made the leap from long corporate hours to building a practice designed around freedom, family, and meaningful client relationships. We sat down with him to talk about the transition, community, and what it really means to be a trusted advisor.

What’s it been like leaving public accounting behind and starting your own firm?

It’s really exciting. I’ve been in public accounting for 13 years—grinding 18-hour days, 100-hour weeks. Now, it doesn't even feel like working. I have the freedom to take my kid to school, have a peaceful breakfast, and be here by 10:00 AM. I might stay until 9:00 PM, but I have the flexibility to have breakfast with my family first.

That was the main reason for the transition: freedom and flexibility. In the corporate world, if you come in at 10:00 AM, it’s frowned upon. Here, as long as the work gets done, I can manage my own schedule. It’s better for my health, too. I can work out in the morning now. It’s just one hour of difference, but it makes all the difference.

You’ve already started building connections here—what’s that been like?

I have, yes! I’ve already sent referrals to my colleague down the hall and have been talking to another member about web design. I recently had a long meeting with one of the financial planners here. Our work naturally overlaps, as many of my tax clients eventually need guidance on investing and structuring their funds. It feels like we are one firm, but everyone has their own practice within it.

How would you explain your job to someone outside the finance world, and why do you love doing it?

I handle tax compliance and advisory for small to mid-sized businesses—anywhere from $50,000 to $30 million in revenue. We do bookkeeping, annual filings, payroll, and sales tax. On the personal side, we work with affluent individuals on investment structuring. I’ve been doing this for 15 years; it’s like reading the same book over and over—I have it memorized. I love building the relationships and providing value.

What’s been your biggest win so far, and what’s a mistake or learning experience that taught you the most?

My biggest win is a client who has stayed with me through three different firm changes over eight years. They moved with me to my own practice because of the relationship and the value I provide. My biggest "failure" was not having the guts to start this sooner. I was too comfortable with the stable W2 income. But I don't regret it; I learned a lot to get to where I am now.

In looking for the right space for your business, what stood out about The Amara Club?

I love the vibe here. I checked out four other spots in the area, but they felt like a mall or a dark circle of offices. Here, it’s professional. When my clients walk off the elevator, the trust starts building immediately. They see a high-end, professional setup and know I mean business.

What do you want to be known for in The Amara Club community?

A trusted advisor. I want to be known as someone responsible, accountable, and willing to go above and beyond. If I’m not the right person for a task, I want to be the one who connects you to the right person. Our clients deserve better service than what they often get, and I want to provide that.

I really feel like I’m part of a community here. It makes being a social person much easier when you’re building a business!

______

Starting his own firm has given Jeet the freedom to build work around what matters most. He brings the same discipline he developed in public accounting, but now it fits naturally around slow breakfasts, morning workouts, and more time with his family.

In just a few weeks at The Amara Club, Jeet has already become a natural ambassador, connecting members and sharing advice. As his practice grows, it’s clear that he’s building more than clients; he’s building relationships that last.

If you’re a business owner looking for thoughtful tax guidance or an individual seeking strategic advisory support, Jeet is always open to a conversation. Reach out via email, book a consultation, or stop by his office at The Amara Club to say hello.
